URMI ties up with CSR

They say... Necessity is the mother of all inventions but ironically in our case it is more the frustration resulting out of the irresponsible society digging the ground for their own burial that too knowingly. It’s not the lack of knowingness but the lack of enthusiasm that stunts development in this country..! Being the youth of this country there are a few responsibilities that lie on our shoulders and working for a better tomorrow is the most important one..! So realizing that we must at least do our part for the society and because doing it alone was next to impossible.. we came up with a group of likeminded people working for a cause and formed a non-profit non-government organization which works for the betterment of the society.. URMI..! Which by the way in Sanskrit means.. A wave..!!

Urmi mainly deals with addressing the grave environmental issues by educating people in the most understanding way possible.

In order to educate we do……

Campaigning, Rain water harvesting, Plantations, Waste Management.

Initiate the change: Urmi is all about change we have already ignited the fire and are endeavoring to burn continuously and consistently.

This is to here by notify that URMI MVSREC has successfully tied itself up with CSR with the due permission of our principal sir today and here on wards any activity URMI MVSREC conducts ill be notified to the CSR well before hand and expects fine correspondence and support for the same. Also we promise to extend any possible kind of help to the CSR. In other words from now both the groups will happily work hand in hand for bringing about a positive change in the society and accomplish all the individual aims.

Satisfied with the plastic ban campaign the MVSR URMI team headed forward with the same spirits to the next peculiar activity. With the sense of responsibility to our environment and the feeling that we owe our part in maintaining the same, the team took up the spades and went on to the field. Prior to which there has been a meeting with the GPJ( Gram panchayat jillelguda) regarding the help and permissions required to clean the lake in the same locality which is observed to be over dumped with plastic bags and non decomposable garbage.

The local people have been facing a lot of problems due to this. The URMI team appealed the GPJ secretary to provide us with a good number of workers. The idea was that they are the ones who are supposed to maintain the healthy condition of the lake which due to inevitable reasons was not the case. And so our team made it a point that they take their responsibility more seriously and henceforth the motive is sustained.

On the day of the activity, the members of URMI MVSR in their apt outfits reach

ed the arena and laid their part very efficiently in cleaning the lake to a satisfactory level. The workers and the team members were supplied with face masks and gloves.

The team played its vital role in enlightening the locals about the ill effects and consequences of the same. The plastic bags and accessories were sent to the respective dump yards in the vehicles provided by the GPJ and the remaining decomposable garbage was piled up and disposed.

As a part of awareness and caution banners and ply boards with an URMI logo were put up on the beds.There was a sense of gratitude and happiness observed among the locals.

Fortunately this event also got the media coverage and the news was published in EENADU and ANDHRAJYOTI daily newspapers dated 10/1/12. Also the media appreciated and promised their full support for the upcoming events. The team is overjoyed with this response of the public and the media and this has let its spirits higher.

Anti-Plastic Campaign

The URMI team of MVSREC is happy to report that it has successfully

conducted an Anti Plastic campaign with an intension of spreading the awareness among the lower classes of the society. As a step towards this we chose a government school situated in nadergul (near the college campus) and with the due permission of the principle of the school, the event was conducted.The event started with a presentation prepared by one of our team members and a projector was used for the same with minimal but effective resources.

The presentation was followed by an interactive session with the students wherein all their

queries regarding the environmental issues were answered effectively to the satisfaction of the faculty and pupils as well. There were two sessions conducted separately for boys and girls.

The team was happy with the response and cooperation of the institution and hopes to see a definite tangible change.

As a step of initiating the change the team distributed cloth bags among the school children and the staff. An appeal to utilize the same was humbly made to them.

The most awaited event of our college- FRESHERS DAY was celebrated with a blast. A wonderful opportunity and a perfect platform to help the freshers come out of their shells and prove themselves.It is in fact a feather in the crown for me and my group that i was titled as the Ms. Fresher 2012. It was a wonderful moment filled with joy, pride and responsibility, be it the cultural events or the prestigious titles presentation.

I feel very privileged for being a part of this exuberant event. It gave me a great exposure, and I hope this exposure will help me in my future endeavours. The event was very well organised,the whole credit goes to the second year organizers. Their efforts were reflected in the success of the programme. On the whole it can be summed up as 'Perfection - Personified!!'

WELCOME FRESHERS- MVSRians celebrating the arrival of first year students.

The most awaiting FRE-CON (Freshers Cultural Onslaught) was held in MVSR engineering college on 28 January,2012.It was the first biggest event organised by all the second year students and was a treat to watch all of them work together.

The event was held in the Mechanical foyer. The day commenced with a cultural performance by Joel ( automobile-1/4) whose talent in singing captured the interest of the audience . The pleasant sound from the strings of guitar by Mahendra Palnati (Mechanical 2/4)exhilarated the audience which was followed by dance performances of Bhargava (ECE 2/4) and Sneha (IT-2/4) which made everyone groove along with them. Praneeth (ECE 2/4) and ECE first year girls also showcased their talents which captured the hearts of many. All the cultural events were judged by Mrs.Bhagya (Mathematics Dept) and Mr.Sravan Kumar(ECE Dept).

The event progressed with the ramp walk , the heart of freshers event since many years which was hosted by Vishwanath(Mech-2/4) and Swathi Shree (CSE-2/4).This event consisted of two rounds first round being an introductory round where every contestant was given a time span of three minutes.

The contestants were made to walk the ramp in pairs. The judges for the ramp session were Shanti Kiran(Civil), Vamsi Gupta(Civil),

Abhinav Bitra(Civil), Hamza Kagalwala (ECE ), Bala Murali Krishna (ECE), Puneeth Putcha (CSE), Harsha Narra(CSE), Amithesh (Mech), Abhitej (Mech), Navneeth(IT),Sumanshu Vishnu Panth (EEE), Shwetha Hegde (EEE), Pradeep (ECE) all of them being 4th year students. Among the 24 pairs ,12 boys and 12 girls were selected individually for the second round based on their aptitude, performance, walk and dressing style,this was then followed by lunch. The spectacular performances in the first half of the event were so good that the audience were anxious to reach back the venue for viewing the remaining events after a short break of 30 min. The events of the second session started with “why this kolaveri di” dance performance by CSE (1/4) students who were the cynosure of all eyes followed by a skit (EEE-1/4 students).The rock band performance of the first years marked the highlight of this event.The finalists of the ramp session were made to showcase their talents and were tested based on their spontaneity, confidence and relevance. The contestants who could successfully impress the judges with their stunning answers were conferred with titles.

The DJ after the ramp session was an icing on the cake. The titles representing distinct categories were given away to the winners of the ramp walk.The titles include Mr & Ms.Fresher , Mr.&Ms.Elegant, Mr.&Ms.Ramp, Mr.&Ms. Verve, Mr.&Ms.Aura, Mr.&Ms. Rose, Mr.&Ms.Popular, Mr. Handsome,Ms.Pretty and MVSR Branch Crown.The credit goes to all the organisers and the support staff who have given their wholesome best to kindle the lamp of success to make this event a grand one.

Combat for the title - MVSR Football League

Football is a word that has a mesmerizing effect throughout the world and MVSREC is a no exception.The sprouting of football in MVSR happened in the year of 2010.

At present there has been a sea change in the mindsets of MVSRians. They are all struck with football mania.All this happened in a span of just 12 months when the disruptive skills of the students in sports especially soccer was innately good that they could not notice it until they showcased their talent at Osmania University Football Tournament ,bagging 3rd position and finally carved a separate niche for themselves.This paved the way for inception of MVSR Football League in 2010 (MFL) by our passionate students.To pen down some of them ,we have Hamza Kagalwala (ECE-4/4), Abhinav Bitra (CIV-4/4), Chaitanya Reddy (CSE-3/4).Initially it was a tough ordeal to get the name and fame no doubt efforts were not in vain.The players’ united work, grip and determination towards football encouraged many sponsors like Orange Hospitals, MVSR Campus Connect, Prodigiez Solutions and Avis to come forward.

The league comprised of four potent ,aggressive,industrious teams named as Spartans, Phoenix Warriors, Red Hawks and Eagles. MVSRians used the similar technique of IPL, for selecting the players that is by a method of auction. MFL 1 allured many students to take part in the league.200 students out of 600 showed up for the training session.With 100 points given to each team and a base price of 5 points, 24 players were sorted out into various teams.”All that starts well ends well.”this happened to be true for Spartans as they emerged as the champions of MFL1.The Man Of Series being Shajiuddin Ansari (CVIL-3/4) and the Golden Boot title was bagged by Puneeth Putcha (CSE-4/4) with 7 goals lead.

With in no time MFL2 season took off extravagantly carrying with it all glitz, adrenaline rush and wholesome entertainment.Marching in a fashionable, unique way was always MVSRians cup of tea, they proved there skills by introducing some features like jerseys, online scoring, daily updates, online quiz contests which attracted the eyes and mind of almost every student in the college.The second season started bearing in mind the upcoming venture of MVSR football club, which was not only to play matches and to award the best, but also to teach the players on the insights of the game. An amazing start was provided to the league by the opening match of Red Hawks versus Phoenix Warriors resulting in a tie with a head to head fight of both the teams. The expectations on MFL2 rose to a peak with this match. Each team had to play matches against the other three, at the end of the league the team on the top of table is the winner.

Unlike MFL1 which had only Spartans leading all over the war, MFL2 came up with splendid performances and every match harnessed the growing competence and interest. It was also a visual fest for the audience.The players were so strongly determined that they played for their teams leaving behind injuries and pain. Though there were four teams fighting for the title, the clear fight was between Eagles and Phoenix Warriors, Eagles having a slight advantage over Phoenix. The most interesting match of the entire league was the last match as it was the title deciding one between Eagles and Phoenix Warriors.

The match between Eagles and Phoenix Warriors took place on the 5 November,2011 and was the MFL 2 title decider irrespective of Eagles' result vs the Red Hawks. These were the possibilities:

1.Eagles win against Hawks: Phoenix will have to beat Eagles on the last match day to win. Anything less,Eagles will win the title.
2. Eagles draw: Eagles will win the title if they don't lose again

st Phoenix owing to their superior GD.
3. Eagles lose: Phoenix will take the title if they don't lose to Eagles

Even before the final match , a race for the title , the crowd were gripped with anxiety filled with enthusiasm.You can tell that both the team players were filled with winning spirit and it was a tough match,well an interesting one for the audience. The only way for Phoenix to win the title was to beat Eagles in the last match else the title goes to Eagles. Phoenix Warriors entered the match with only intention to beat Eagles at any cost. But they were unable to w

ithstand the confidence of Eagles, letting them to make a goal in the fist half. With the strong defence of Eagles, Pheonix was not even able to make a single goal, losing the match to Eagles. In the race for the title Man Of the Series, Bhavadeep (MECH-4/4) took a lead.

ll the players were filled with happiness as the league turned out to be a grand success.

Hamza Kagalwala (ECE-4/4)in said in his words, ”We would like to thank Mr Srinivas Rao (Prof Mech Dept) for his valuable contributions towards mfl throughout to encourage the sport.”
With success of MFL2, to meet the expectations for MFL3, the MVSR Football Club is planning to include other OU and JNTU colleges under the MFL3 banner.

Transforming from informals to formals

It all started on a quiet regular college day in July when our principal Mr.S.Udaya Kumar and our placement officer Mr.Prasanna Kumar walked into our classroom and announced the schedule for campus placements which originally were to take place sometime later. But due to the change in the NASSCOM rules, the placements were decided to be conducted early. All the gloomy and sleepy faces of my friends (due to the lecture) were as if they were struck with a thunderbolt after listening to the announcement. For the next 10 minutes, our principal had given the most encouraging speech i ever heard.

From the next day onwards, people started pouring over RS Agarwal and many other aptitude books as the date of the first day of placements was announced as 21-09-2011 and the first company to come was COGNIZANT followed by INFOSYS.Wherever i went in the college, the talk on campus placements was in the air. Opinions, Debates, Decisions, everything was being discussed. And at last, the least place one would expect this kind of discussion to happen is our canteen and surprisingly instead of food plates and water-bottles, i found aptitude books on the gleaming new tables and laptops connected to each and every plug-point in the canteen with students pouring over all the aptitude materials that can be found on the internet.Finally the D-day had come.21st September 2011,COGNIZANT entered MVSREC to start the campus recruitments process. All the ragged jeans and printed t-shirts and flip flops were replaced by spotless and neatly ironed formal shirts and wrinkle free trousers with shining black shoes.

With tension seen in Bold and Italic nature on everyone’s face, at around 10:45AM,we sat down for the written test which went on for an hour. Those 60 minutes went by in a jiffy with many people still hanging on to the calculations of their unfinished questions. The results of the test were to be announced later in the evening and everyone had their lunch in a much awaited and nail biting anxiety. The results were pasted at 3:30pm and i saw many extremely delighted faces and some sad faces. Out of around 600 students, approximately 450 cleared the written test and were to the next round. The HR and technical interview was to take place the next day and the results were to be announced along with the Infosys campus recruitment which took place on 24th August,2011.

Both Infosys and Cognizant being the day zero companies, many of the students got placed in both of them and some only in one of them. Nevertheless on an overall analysis of these two companies, the number of students placed were:

Cognizant: 213

Infosys: 129

Next came MAQ software which was the core company for computer science students and recruited only a single student.

Capgemini, with its stand on selecting the non-recruited students offered jobs to 18 students.Wipro came next which was also the day zero company and scooped away with a whooping 133 students in its bag.Intergraph was a sudden entry into the recruiters list and took 9 students out of 100.Deloitte came last in the first recruitment drive this year and strictly with its record criteria of not extending its job offers to not more than 12 students in any of the city colleges selected 7 students out of approximately 250 students who were short listed to attend its recruitment processing.

Following this discussion about the On-Campus placements, now we move on to the Off-Campus recruitments starting with MEIL being the core organization for Civil engineering students recruited 8 out of 80 candidates who have registered to apply for this company.Next in the line with its controversial recruiting process comes BOSCH which finally took 12 students from MVSR after a lot of irregularities in evaluating the written exam. There were a total 11 colleges out of which 1700 appeared for the written exam. After the final evaluation, 98 cleared the test and amazingly 31 out of them were from MVSR. This was the first core company for EEE and ECE students. There were a total number of 37 jobs which were offered out of which 12 were bagged by MVSR students.Now comes the turn of another giant, L&T for which the recruitments are yet to take place on 4-12-2011 at CMR Engineering College.

On a supporting note i would like to thank everyone who supported us and helped us glide through the recruitment processing without any hurdles. By this i would like to thank the 9 volunteers from the 3rd years who have worked rigorously in helping our college in conducting the placements.And last but not the least, a huge round of applause to the person behind all this, the driving force, without whom we could’nt have achieved success in this huge scale this academic year, is our Principal, Mr.Susarla Udaya Kumar sir.

On a brief note, to mark the success rate compared to last year, we get a huge spike on the graph. Last year there were a total of 41 companies which offered 505 jobs including multiple jobs. This year with an enormous increase, the offer rate has shot up to 535 with only 12 companies till now and the count extends with the approaching days with more companies yet to come.

MVSRians stand up for the Bill of Rights

Prima Facie India's growth pattern has been quiet impressive and reflective of the growing confidence of the nation.Nevertheless the nation is still being haunted by big troubles and topping that list is CORRUPTION.In the present scenario, corruption rules the country.People are aware of corruption but tend to overlook the situation.

India witnessed a common man ,with a simple demeanour emerging into the limelight with a vision to bring transparency into the corrupted system. He is none

other than ANNA HAZARE. The good work done by him generated a lot of good will and respect from his villagers and as a mark of respect people started addressing him as ANNA. ANNA and his team members insisted on bringing amendments to make the Lokpal bill effective which is now called Jan Lokpal Bill. In spite of the assurances

given to his team by the government, the present Jan Lokpal bill before the Parliament is declared to be ineffective by Hazare and his team.
On 1st December,2011members and volunteers of an organisation, "India Against Corruption ( IAC )"Hyderabad,visited MVSR Engineering College with an intention to make students aware of the Anna Hazare movement and the Jan Lokpal bill.The team comprised of two members, one being Ms.Manali, a post MBBS graduate and Mr.Dilip, a software professional.

At the outset, few visual clippings were shown to the students which portrayed the problems faced by India..Ms Manali gripped the attention of every one by discussing the current problems being faced in India.It was all supported by statistical information.

The very thought of going against corruption, “a willful violation of oath of office,abuse of authority for need and greed”, was instilled into the minds of the students by the team.They proposed few remedies such as awareness,betterment of laws,transformation of mindsets of people and a positive change in the current system. In the process, videos depicting the magical power of initiation were played which encouraged all the students.

The mission of IAC was to emphasise on the following areas:

1.fighting corruption through system reforms.
2.strengthening democracy
3.electoral reforms.
4.achieving Jan Lokpal bill.
5.Judicial reforms
6.motivate the people about their rights.

7.demand of accountability.

Later more light was thrown on the Jan Lokpal ,their prospects,goals and resources. Jan Lokpal is an independent investigating ,anti corrupt enforcement authority at the Centre.Its referred as Lokayukta at state level.It is independent in administration,finance, having a main resource as 'man power'.
This programme was split into two sessions one hour each and was supported by the presence of some of the lecturers like Mrs.Nalini Panyam ma'am,Mr.Ramanathan sir,Mr.Subash Kulkarni..Students reciprocation was satisfactory.CSE Seminar hall turned to be the venue for this event. The students were given pamphlets of IAC for contact purpose and to volunteer if interested.

Overall impact of the programme was so stimulating that it kept the crowd remembering the proceedings of the event for quite a long time after conclusion.

Cheers to the MCC2010 team for making the Seminar a grand success in a very short span.

Innovation in Communication

With the idea of using technology for communicating information cropped up, the internal branding team of MVSR Campus Connect under the guidance of Saneeth, came up with an idea of using an LED ticker.
The main intention behind the Ticker installation was to update the students with all the
News about the college, viz Seminars,Student achievements,Departmental Activities,Placement cell Information,Info of the Fests in the country,Sports Tournaments,Exams related information and Other campus communications.

After taking into consideration ideas and suggestions all the discussions from the management and students regarding its installation, the ticker was finally placed in front of the canteen on 21st October 2011. The responsibility of maintaining and it was handed over to Capcom.

Specifications of the ticker:

LOCATION: Student Activity & Leadership Centre (above canteen)

MODE OF OPERATION:
-Data to be fed through a dedicated key board.

-Memory storage up to 1100 messages each of 256 characters

-Multi-language along with symbols

-Mo problem of loosing the data when it is switched off or refreshed.

-Data can be retrieved and edited in the middle of the operation if required.

Karthik (CSE-3/4), Kaushik (CSE-3/4), Sandeep (ECE-3/4) and Sowmya (EEE-3/4) have greatly contributed in the installation and proper working of the ticker board.

The time for Social Responsibility towards the Environment.

The recent event in the city,Hyderabad 10K run is a “Not for profit” organisation registered under the Indian Trusts Act. It has been established with an objective of promoting health, fitness and sports.
Last year, the Hyderabad 10K Run left a massive 400 kg of plastic waste all around Hussain Sagar Lake and People's Plaza. This year the theme of the campaign is that - Clean water should be available in the natural water bodies, lakes and ponds.

The students of MVSR were given an opportunity by the Carbon Credit Race and National Green Corps which is an NGO involved in the great thought “to ban the use of plastic bottles in the 10k Run”.And so they organized a PLASTIC BAN Campaign at people’s plaza.
Over 200 students from 8 engineering colleges including MVSR Engineering College conducted the campaign against the use of plastic during the run.It was made more appealing to the participants by the use of colourful banners and message oriented placards.

MVSRians took a step ahead to save the city and requested the organizers of 10K run to make the marathon clean enough by avoiding plastic bottles.

. On this issue, the volunteers from MVSR arranged drinking water to the participants of the 10K run in paper glasses which are eco-friendly

.There was a tremendous response from the participants. The corporate houses and the general public appreciated the efforts of students.

Green Corp Champion,Chaithanya Reddy(Cse-3/4) took the initiative and was supported by Lohith Kumar(Cse-3/4)and Krishna Kaushik (Cse-3/4). The valiant volunteers for the event were Meena Rapaka (IT-2/4),Vishnu Priya (Mech-2/4) and Rahul Narra(CSE-2/4) from MVSR Campus Connect.

A Whimsical experience at ZPHS, Nadergul.

In India, we celebrate children's day on 14th November, marking the birthday of our former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, whose love and passion towards children had no limit. On 14 November 2011, as a part of children's day celebration, the CSR club of MVSR Campus Connect took the initiative of celebrating this day in ZPHS, Nadergul.41 students of MVSR have voluntarily signed for this project.At 10:30 a.m the team reached the school and around 1:40 p.m, they left the school with faces full of satisfaction. The team was lead by Mrs.Sunitha Bhan (Eng Dept).The students of MVSR had a great time and were satisfied by the warm and innocent smiles of the children.

A sense of happiness and resilience was noted in the ZPHS students' attitude. Arun Kumar, a 7th standard student in his remarks said, " We wish you people would come every time and conduct such events.we are very happy today. I couldn't win a prize this time but i am sure i will make it next time, but i really enjoyed the day".

The total strength of the school was 630.After discussion with the school Principal, Mr.S.V.P.Reddy and 8 other teachers, the Organizers decided to conduct a total of 14 events ( 6 for primary and 8 for secondary)

Necessary items were provided to the children.From 10:30 am to 11:30 am, drawing competition and hand writing competitions were held separately for both primary and secondary sections respectively.This was followed by running race competition & musical chairs for primary section. Around 12:00pm, all the students of both primary and secondary were made to assemble near the stage to vie dancing, singing and drama performances.

There was a point of regret in this phase, as they couldn't allocate time for all the students' performances due to power failure between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. This left both the students and the team disappointed. Inspite of all the efforts put in by the organizers, all the performances could not be held due to unavoidable reasons.Around 1:00 pm, the celebrations came to an end with prize distribution ceremony which was followed by distribution of refreshments.Every event had two winners.

On the whole it was an experience with the reality of government run schools where most of the students come from poor and under-privileged sections of the society who could not even afford books, pencils and pens. The team was thrilled to see so much talent and passion hidden in them, which when given an opportunity would excel and improve the talents. It was an experience that moved everyone greatly and gave a sense of responsibility that made everyone realize their part towards the student community.

The event was initiated by Apoorva Acharya (IT-4/4),Divijendar (CIVIL-4/4), Shanti Kiran (CIVIL-4/4),Saheth Chakilam (MECH-3.4), AVJ Poornima (CSE-3/4) and followed by others. It was because of the contribution of different clubs in MCC that the event was a grand success

Fruition of a long cherished desire

After many months of anticipation, finally MVSR Engineering College has

added another jewel to its crown. 29th of October,2011 turned out to be a memorable day in the history of MVSR as four years of hard work led to the opening of “ STUDENTS ACTIVITY AND LEADERSHIP CENTRE(SALC)” in the

college. As the name suggests, this center deals with all the student activities in the college. Any student who wishes to put forward his/her ideas can come and share them here, and also the MVSR CAMPUS CONNECT(MCC) meetings would be c

The event being hosted by Bala Murali Krishna. The Principal in his opening remarks congratulated the students for the achievement and in his key note mentioned the importance of all ro

After many months of anticipation, finally MVSR Enggineering College has added another jewel to its crown. 29th of October,2011 turned out to be a memorable day in the history of MVSR as four years of hard work led to the opening of “ STUDENTS ACTIVITY AND LEADERSHIP CENTRE(SALC)” in the college. As the name suggests, this center deals with all the student activities in the college. Gritty MVSRians on the move

The orientation day for the MCC recruits 2011 took place on 12th November, 2011 around 10:30AM.The session was mainly conducted to let the newly recruited students know about MCC, its hierarchy, their respective club motives, achievements and future works.

The session was mainly divided into 3 parts: The first one being a speech from an Alumni, Santosh Revanth Tanugula about the birth of MCC, its progress and its current position. It was followed by a short and simple speech by B.Bala Murali Krishna, I/C, Cap Com club. He, before addressing about the Club activities, spoke about the qualities that a successful person should poses. He described the importance of Punctuality, Unity, Organization, how important is it to maintain Records and the importance of Multi tasking, how important is to build ourselves as multi-talented people and finally about effects of Fascism in MCC, that may tear apart the Organization. Then he continued with the club achievements. He reminded the vital role played by Cap Com during the agitations, during placements, how it helped the lecturers for communicating with staff etc…..

In the next part of the session respective club heads gave the members a clear idea of the club, their missions, achievements and future projects in the form of a Power Point Presentation (PPT). It was started by Pradeep Korvi, I/C, Techno Creative Club (TCC).In his words, “the club was started to nurture and showcase technical skills and make it our (students) forte”, he also mentioned that the main objective of the club was to do justice to what one learns as a student. He mentioned that “The club will conduct seminars, brain storming events, workshops, issue technical magazines etc”. TCC till date has organized a Vedic Maths event and robotics workshop for which there was a tremendous response. TCC can proudly proclaim for training over 150 students and imparting knowledge in its various events conducted. It is now coming up with two new events, one being a workshop on Ethical Hacking and other being an event to enhance the creative talents. He concluded by saying, “This is the place to implement your ideas”, so that the Character, Talents’, Creativity in a student are enhanced.

Then was the most awaiting ppt of Nartan, I/C, Cynosure Club. Nartan, very famous for his photography skills and video's as expected gave a marvelous ppt that captured the spirits of everybody present there. He spoke about the importance of Cynosure as a club in MCC. 2011 MCC recruits were made to realize how important publicity is for any event and the role played by the CYNOSURE club in publicizing an event and capturing wonderful memories. Speaking about the club achievements, he spoke about Snapper and Gang Next events. Snapper being a photography contest, where natural photos in different styles were given importance and one among them was chosen as the best while Gang Next is a competition where students have to make a video about their friends or their gang which brings engineering friendship into limelight. Both these events were a grand success with a very good response from all the students. He also mentioned the remarkable achievements of the club like coming up with a MCC TV with a 3D logo. As the caption of Cynosure says, “we capture your passion” the presentation came to an end by capturing the passion and spirit of many students present there.

Then came the presentation of one of the remarkable club of MCC, Literary, lead by Puneeth Putcha. It was a simple, thoughtful presentation where he precisely spoke about how a student develops oneself while being a part of the MCC family. He also announced that a news letter was published earlier and now a college magazine will be published on a monthly basis. This was followed by a positive and friendly interaction with the new recruits of literary club where he discussed their future plans for the club and its events.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is the one club which the whole campus is aware of. This club comes up with different ideas and conducts different events in college which are both environmentally and personally concerned. CSR lead by Apoorva Acharya. Her presence on the Dias made everyone feel responsible towards the society. Her smile, flow of words, humbleness gained the attention of each and everyone present there. She spoke about how the club was started and named as CSR instead of ‘Eco club’. As it involves Social Awareness, Education, Sanitation, Health, Nutrition it would be better to name it as CSR instead of Eco club. She mentioned their motive as to, “Work or do something good to the society” due to which the club gained such a huge support. Their mission is to “Work United, maintain Spirit, spread the zeal around”. She mentioned that the primary concern of CSR is to make everyone socially responsible and to make sure that the message reaches everyone in a positive manner. These two simple but time taking processes ensured that CSR is in its current position. She also spoke about the present project, to celebrate children's day in ZPHS Nadergul where the students of MVSR go to the school and conduct few competitions in the school for the children there and also look into the matter of providing facilities like restrooms, organizing workshops, conducting exhibitions, for the welfare of children. Although her presentation was long every second of her talk made the crowd realize their responsibilities towards the society. She succeeded in making everyone aware of their responsibilities. She ended her presentation with, “All the things are difficult before they are easy. Hence, let us work”.

Then it was Harsha Narra’s turn, I/C Fine Arts club, to take over the presentations. It was here where everyone came to know the exact meaning of arts and the difference between Arts and Fine Arts. He described about the wings of fine arts club which are dance that includes Classical, Western, Folk ; Music which is further divided into Band, Singing, Instrumental; action which consists of Skit, Movie making; art work includes Painting, Craft work, Collage and all. He spoke about their past events like organizing, painting, collage and other craft woks in the collage and also dancing, singing and other Competitions. He spoke about how they initiated a theme song for the fest Sangamam2k11, and finally recorded it with the students of MVSR itself.The ppt put forward their future plans like organizing a mass scale painting competition for both students and staff, the best among those will find a place in the SALC (Students Activity and Leadership Center) and also forming a dance group to represent the college at various events.

Then the recruits were made to organize an event in a short span of 15 minutes. This was an opportunity for the recruits lo learn the skills of organizing and the efforts needed and the plan of action required to host a successful event. The juniors were supposed to convince the seniors to grant permission in order to conduct an event, which the juniors failed to achieve. However the seniors appreciated their efforts and encouraged them by discussing their mistakes and further efforts required. This made all the recruits realize that an event can only be successful if they work towards putting in their entire efforts along with working together.

Finally all the students left the civil conference hall where the meeting took place with a sense of satisfaction for learning so much, and looking forward to more events like these to contribute their part.

A panel discussion on "EMPLOYABLE EDUCATION" was held by Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) summit on 1st October 2011 at Minerva Grand,Secundrabad.

The gist of the deliberations at the conference is appended below for the benefit of the student community. According to a recent study ,Hiring managers and Employers from leading firms in the country found that, of the 3 million Graduates and Post Graduates who come out of the College every year, only 25% technical graduates and 10-15% of regular graduates are considered employable by the industry and 75% Engineering Graduates and 85% Graduates are not Employable. Some of the reasons cited are -

Lack of focus and definite career path
Undue emphasis on Academic excellence
Lack of Industry- relevant Curriculum.

Several professionals and Industry Experts from various sectors addressed this issue and suggested some workable solutions.

Change in the perspective on formal education will bring back dignity of

labour and students will realise their aptitude and will get trained to imbibe vocational skills as a part of curriculum.

Syllabus for every educational course in the country should be revamped from time to time to include practical knowledge and industry oriented curriculum.

Although the trends are changing gradually, the penetration to higher education still remains marginally low in the country. One needs to understand that when we talk of lack of employability, it does not imply that there is lack of jobs. There are plenty of jobs in the market, but there are very few who pass the eligibility test. There is always a point called attitude towards glamour which interferes the play of life in today’s world. According to Vivek Paranjpe, the younger generation is attracted to glamour and the manufacturing sector, for one, lacks glamour. He further says, "Engineers who graduate as mechanical engineers do not want to work in manufacturing firms. Most of them are so used to the prim and proper life as students, that they are not motivated enough to work in industries where they are expected to get your hands dirty, especially dealing with machines and tools that involve physical testing from engineers. Also in contrast to software and consulting profiles that they are offered after doing a management course, manufacturing firms fail to attract attention, thereby leading to unemployment."

Tips for graduates

Choose a career that suits your interest and abilities so that you can develop your skills in that field.
Do not choose a course for the sake of certification alone. Check for viable and short term courses that are specific to your needs and meet the industry standards.
Along with studies, find out ways and means to brush up your vocational and cognitive skills
Read the newspapers and browse the internet for updating
your knowledge about the requirements of the profession you are interested in.
Whenever possible, participate in college activities and be a part of the organising committee for college events. These initiatives will teach you values of team work, leadership skills, communication skills and will go a long way in preparing you for the future.
Indulge in projects that go beyond classroom-education, where you can put your skills to test and learn from them.
Take up a summer internship while you are still studying so that you get hands-on experience of the workings of an industry. This will be taken into other candidates.

For educational institutes

Institutes should emphasise on mandatory aptitude tests to ensure that candidates are fully aware and nurture an interest in the chosen field of study.
While devising a curriculum, look beyond classroom teaching and include field projects and assignments as part of the course.
Educational institutes must gauge the possibility of collaborating account by your hiring manager and will give you an edge overwith various companies and device short term certificate courses that are exclusive and specific to the industry standards.
While designing the curriculum, institutes need to take into consideration the changing trends in the industry and update their syllabus from time to time.
Institutes should try to inculcate the positive spirit in the youth so that they can go on a right path and blossom in their future.

Many students from different colleges had an opportunity to attend this very purposeful seminar, of which MVSREC was one among them.Under the guidance of Mr.N.Namashivaya (Associate Prof. ECED), B.Bala Murali Krishna (4/4 ECE), K.Pradeep (4/4 ECE), Shivani Sharma (3/4 IT) , P.Manasa (3/4 EEE) and T.L.Sowmya (3/4 EEE) represented MVSR Engineering College. They learnt many things through the deliberations given by eminent academic intellectuals and industry professionals on ‘EMPLOYABLE EDUCATION’, by attending the seminar.

Finally it was made clear to the crowd that, “EDUCATION IS NOT PREPARATION FOR LIFE, EDUCATION IS LIFE ITSELF”

'Walk The Talk' with The Principal

There was an interesting interactive session between the principal Mr. S. Uday Kumar and the students of MVSR Engg. College. The open forum organized “Walk the Talk” on 5^thAugust, 2011 by Cynosure Club. The whole program was ably video graphed by Lohith Menchu (CSE-3/4) and Nishanth Goud (CIV-2/4). The program was directed by Nartan (IT-4/4) and Sridhar (CIV-4/4). The program crew consists of Rahul Narra (CSE-2/4) and Teja Srivatsav (IT-2/4) and wonderfully edited by Lohith Menchu.

The insights of the program included the topics ranging from good performances based on ranking of the Engg. colleges, placements and improvement in campus growth. It also included healthy discussion on needs of the students regarding improvement in library facilities, need for an Auditorium, better parking management and inclusion of sports and extracurricular activities. The students expressed their reservations regarding closing of the gate as soon as the college commences.

The program was wonderfully hosted by Rindha (CIV-4/4) and Sridhar (CIV-4/4). The program was ahead as it included an open-heart discussion on all issues concerning the college welfare. At the end, the principal promised to look into all the grievances of the student.

MVSR GANG NEXT 2011

MVSR Gang next 2011 an out of the box idea by Nartan has hit the bull’s eye. It was organized by Nartan (IT-4/4) and Lohith Menchu (CSE-3/4). The Cynosure Club had aimed at bringing out the hidden talents of the students of MVSR Engg. College by providing an opportunity to showcase their friendship in form of a video of duration of 7 to 8 minutes to show their fun-side of a student’s life. The club is happy to receive an over-whelming response to this initiative.

The best video shot was by ‘Arc-en-ceil’ Guys (French name for the English word “rainbow”). The group consisted of seven friends who represented the seven colors of a rainbow. The group shot a video on the way they had spent at some exotic locations.

It was well-shot, well-edited and beautifully presented. The credit goes to the spirit of friendship. Kudos to these spirited guys who have shown a different meaning to life which looks wonderful in spending quality time with friends.

MVSR's 'Go eco-friendly, go Godly Campaign'

The ‘go eco friendly, go Godly’ campaign was taken up by the student members of the Ecological and Social Awareness Club of MVSR Engineering College. Two days ahead of the festival of Ganesh Chaturti an awareness exhibition was taken up. The main objective of this campaign was to spread awareness about the hazards of using idols made of plaster of paris (P.O.P) and highlight the benefits of using clay idols instead.

Traditionally, clay was used to make Ganesh idols. Over the years however, plaster of Paris (POP), which is lighter and cheaper, has become the favored material to mould these idols. POP contains chemicals such as gypsum, sulphur, phosphorus, and magnesium. The dyes used to colour these idols contain mercury, cadmium, arsenic, lead, and carbon. Plastic and thermocol accessories are used to decorate these idols. Such materials are not biodegradable, hence are toxic. Earlier the idols were quite small. Today a spirit of competitiveness pervades the celebrations, so the idols are becoming increasingly big in size and therefore increasing pollution. The event focused on highlighting the demerits of P.O.P idols.

The venue chose was the open area in front of the canteen, the student density being obviously high there. The campaigning started at 12:50 pm and ended by 4:45 pm. There were colorful posters, banners and other interactive items put up all around the venue. A practical demonstration of the merits and demerit of using clay and P.O.P idols was also done with the help of a few exhibits.

Also, people who were inspired by this campaign were asked to sign a pledge that they would use clay idols and spread awareness about the same in their social circles.

Simultaneously clay idols were also sold to those who wanted to buy them. Due to unexpectedly high response from the public and underestimation of the same by the volunteers, only 15 idols were kept for sale and were sold out in the next half an hour, leaving the team surprised and happy.

Everything used for this campaign was eco-friendly including all the posters, banners and other items.

The response was overwhelming and a good number of people signed the pledge.

Many lecturers and students who signed the pledge vowed to help expand the campaign in the future. Ideas and suggestions were given. Members and participants vowed to reach out to more people and spread awareness by word of mouth. Also, it was decided to take steps to make the clay idols (which are difficult to get) so that they are easily available to those interested in the future.

This was a small step, an initiative, which promises to grow and help create a cleaner and greener environment. Hope.

MVSR raises its voice unanimously against corruption

Kishan Bapat Baburao Hazare , popularly known as Anna Hazare, is a war veteran, social activist and a social worker.He worked as a driver in the Indian army and was greatly influenced by Mahatma Gandhi, Acharya Vinobha Bhave and Swami Vivekananda.

He came into picture after his contribution to the development of Ralegoan Siddi, a village in Ahmednagar district, Maharasthra, known as the richest village in India. Anna Hazare along with Mr. Shanti Bhushan, Mr.Prashant Bhushan, Mr.Arvind Kejriwal, Mrs.Medha Patkar and Mrs.Kiran Bedi on behalf of the civil society led a movement for the passage of the Jan Lokpal bill in the Parliament. This movement attracted attention very quickly through various media. Thousands of people all over the world joined the movement and stressed the Government for the passage of Jan Lokpal Bill in the Parliament .

Anna Hazare and his team started their hunger strike “Fast Until Death” at Janthar Manthar, New Delhi. This movement gathered many people, especially the youth.

Akshay Tekalkote(3/4 Mech) and Akbar(2/4 EEE, also a member of YBI (Youth for Better India)) suggested the idea of conducting a rally in Anna’s support, which soon had the support of the whole college (students and the staff) who carried this idea forward to a successful march.

The idea became a reality on the 26th of August. The rally commenced with Mr. Rayudu waving the Indian flag and the students of MVSR marched in patronage of Anna Hazare.

The 45 minute march saw students walking around the campus with khadi topis, holding banners, placards and wording slogans in support of Anna Hazare and the Jan Lokpal bill. After which, everyone converged at the civil block, where Raghav Rajan(3/4, mech) threw light on intricate details of the Jan Lokpal bill.

This was followed by the gratifying speeches of Mr. P.A Sastry, Director of Academics; Dr. S. Uday Kumar, Principal. Representing the faculty Mr.Srinivas Sharma & Mr.S. Ramanathan, inst

illed in every student the values of honesty, condemned corruption and hoped the young generation would carry forward the ideals of Anna.

Before concluding the eventful gathering, everyone sang the mellifluous song “Hum Honge Kamiyaab”.The didactic event stood out in its attempt to enlighten students about the Jan Lokpal bill and this was evident from the overwhelming response.

The event made its mark because of the inimitable support extended by all the faculty members , and most importantly, Mr. S.G.S.Murthy,Vice Principal and the students.

Yuva Jagruthi Vedika inaugrated

Swami Vivekananda’s Yuva Jagruthi Vedika (-A dynamic forum for the personality development) is a platform that extends the mental horizons of the Indian youth in achieving the dreams of Vivekananda, emphasises on seeing India as a supreme power and impregnating Moral Values in the Present Generation.

Swami Bodhamayananda Maharaj, an eminent monk of the Ramakrishna math and is currently the director of Vivekananda Institute of Human excellence, a unit of Ramakrishna Math, Hyderabad. His untiring efforts to carry forward the message of Swami Vivekananda has inspired thousands of people to engender moral and spiritual education. One of his quotes goes like, “Don’t wait for others to help you; you take the initiative to help the needy ".

MVSR Engineering College launched “Yuva Jagruthi Vedika(YJV)”, a center organized by Vivekananda Institute of Centre for Human Excellence. The chief guest of the day Shri Bodhamayananda Maharaj, inaugurated YJV at the Civil Foyer on 4th Aug, 2011. The meet was attended by Shri N. Vasudevaya Sir,the joint secretary of MVSR Engg. College; Mr. P.A.Sastry, the Director of Academics; Mr. S.Uday Kumar, the Principal and Mr. S.G.S. Murthy, the Vice Principal.

The Vice principal, Mr. S.G.S Murthy in his opening remarks thanked our esteemed chief guest for starting Yuva Jagruthi Vedika in the college. He expressed hope that the students will be highly beneficial by the teachings and ideas of the great Swami Vivekananda and wished the students will participate in large number.

In the key note address, our esteemed Swamiji deliberated on the future programs for the students on the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. He highlighted that the institute has opened such YJV Centers in 61 institutions, in and around Hyderabad. In his address, Swamiji encouraged the students to cultivate mind and self engineering which happens to be the key to success.

He advised the students to aim at all round personality development. Develop original thinking and also to trust in one’s intuition which is our original faculty. He also gave examples of many young successful people who started institutions that lent a helping hand to people in rural and remote areas, unmindful of their high paying jobs. Swamiji’s pearls of wisdom included motivating the students to develop a positive attitude – which is the first step in ones path to success. He also asked the students to understand the traps of negative thinking. He wanted them to look up to great men in history like Sir C.V Raman as their role models. Further, he advised them to develop concentration by virtue of controlling mind through which we can develop right thoughts, a clean heart and lending hands to do better work. He also stressed on healthy self image. He also talked about seriousness in profession and wanted students to contribute in rural progress. Swamiji says “THE POWER OF THE NATION RESTS WITH THE YOUTH”.

Swamiji wants the students to contribute something for their motherland India, wants them to be brave enough to face any kind of situation in their life and to never give up. These all can be done by an individual through meditation. Hence this programme was inaugurated so that our college students can involve in a meditation camp conducted at Rama Krishna Math and improve their skills and reduce their stress levels.

The Principal in his closing remarks thanked Swamiji for enlightening the students to the real life challenges and for showing the right path through which one can lead a better life. The staff, the students were given a hand-out, titled “SWAMI VIVEKANANDA – HIS CALL FOR THE NATION”.

The meet with Sri. M.V. Sridhar, Chairman MVSREC was worth its wait. On Saturday, 19 February 2011 a batch of 11 final year students met him at college to share several ideas that could make a difference to the college.
More than 20 points were discussed over 2 hours and we are thankful for the patience and dedication from sir considering his busy schedule. A brief description on the important points discussed is as follows:

Have tie ups with universities and organisations to provide internships and industrial training programs for students.
Have a teaching system which emphasizes on the latest advancements in technology and the practical application of the theoretical concepts.
Concentrate on development of infrastructure. In this regard we asked for:

A student activity centre with necessary facilities.
An amphitheatre/auditorium with a seating capacity of more than 600.
Plastering the classes again as there are many cement patches and cracks on the walls.
Have sign boards in the college. We had proposed a plan to have a partnership with companies who were ready to sponsor the whole project and sir was positive about it and gave the green signal to go ahead.
We had also shown sir the LED ticker that we had bought. He liked the idea and told he would refund the money.

Sir wanted to make MVSR Campus Connect official with faculty co-ordinates from each department and also incorporate extra-curricular activities as a part of the time table. He wanted students as a part of Campus Connect to take care of the following also:

Website of the college.
Newsletter of the college.
Alumni association and its activities. We have already started working on this. Mails have already been sent to few of the alumni in this regard. We expect to complete the first step of this project by this weekend. We request you to help us in this endeavour. Kindly mail alumni@mvsrcampusconnect.org email ids of pass outs of our college you already know.
Improve canteen. The college is going in for a new contract with regard to the canteen sir asked us if we had any good contacts to supply to him. I had suggested students for a committee which takes care of the working of the canteen. Sir is open to ideas from students so mail team@mvsrcampusconnect.org if you have any, we will forward them to sir. Also, an order for new furniture has been placed and we are hopeful the infrastructure will change before Sangamam. If we want a posh canteen this the right opportunity.

Work on R & D in college. Sir has said that we will collect all innovative projects done by students and place them in a room so that the next generations may know what their seniors have achieved and get motivated.
Sir has conveyed that from this semester attendance is going to become strict and the college gate will be closed between 9:30 AM and 4:20 PM. We have suggested that students bunk classes because the classes are not interesting. Sir has said that if the faculty is not up to the mark necessary action will be taken. But having a minimum of 75% attendance is a MUST from this semester. We caution the students in this regard.
We asked sir why the college hasn’t gone for Wi-fi. He said they are working on it. We even asked to upgrade the already existing internet facilities. He was ok for it. Regarding system maintenance we have complained that many of the systems are infected with viruses hence we want proper anti-virus softwares and up gradation of the present systems with latest softwares.
We even stressed on the plight of the sporting facility in the college. We spoke of the difficulties the organisers of MFL faced in getting the ground cleaned and the financial support. We hope that this will bring about some change. We have mentioned the idea Hamza & Abhinav had of having an inter college football league and sir was really interested in taking the idea forward. We(especially the organisers of MFL) must support him and make this idea a success.
We had even talked of the existing technical student bodies in college. We spoke of how other colleges are banking on latest technologies like Robotics. We also spoke of the success story of E-Labs. He wanted us to work more on it and identify faculty who could co-ordinate us. We spoke of the Robotics fest also.
Sangamam-2011: We presented a 28 Lakh budget for Sangamam this year. Sir enquired about the work already done. He assured us of contacts from his side and gave us some ideas. He even gave a contact of an event organiser who had worked with the college for the silver jubilee celebrations. We will finalise the dates and budget by Monday tentatively. More updates about this will be given after the Monday meeting.

Also, sir told us that cams will be fitted in college for surveillance. He was interested in having such meetings after every semester.

All in all the meeting was a success but the real success depends on how we work on the decisions taken in the meeting. We hope you take the hint and start working seriously. The hour has come for us to act and act together. I would conclude with Swami Vivekananda’s words “Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached.”

Vedic Math Workshop successfully conducted

The prolonged, envisioned idea of the Techno Creative Club(TCC) to organise a Vedic Math Workshop had finally become a reality when Mr.Kashyap spared his valuable time to lecture the students of MVSREC on the 17th and 18th February.

The response from 1st years, for whom it was conducted was more elating than the happening of the workshop. The professional, who is renowned for Vedic Math and Personality Development programs, could give us an appointment only after 3 months due to his busy schedule.

The workshop threw light on the minute intricacies of solving math and general problems alike within fractions of a second, which is the main criterion in all the competitive exams. The students could improve their mental horizon and could gain wide exposure to different methods of solving problems. It was a highly interactive and an educative session. As part of the workshop, all the participants were given a Vedic Maths Text Books along with a workbook to practice.

The workshop was organised by 2nd year TCC members - K.Divya, Karthik Alle, Kaushik, M.V.N.Vamshi, Sandeep, P.Anirudh, Pavan Gop, Tushti Keerthana, B.Anirudh under the guidance of Mr.Vednadam sir. The organisers are thankful for the kind cooperation from the Principal Dr. P.A.Sastry and Dr.S.R.K.Raju, HOD S&H.

This workshop happens to be the first under TCC and proved to be the cynosure of all eyes. TCC is avidly interested in organising seminars/sessions of this kind in the near future. Thanks to Divya Mathur for the update.

Mech. Dept., MVSR Presents: Auto-Cognizance 2011!!

The Mechanical Engineering Students Association (MESA) proudly presents Auto-Cognizance 2011, on 19th February, 2011. The aim of the event is to eliminate the need for a student to attend off-campus workshops on automobiles. Being interactive in nature the programs involved enable the students to understand various concepts of mechanical engineering involving automobiles clearly. And this in turn will help them grasp whatever is taught in the classes better. The event is expected to help nurture an interest towards mechanical engineering in general and automobiles in particular. This interest, we hope, will encourage the students to venture into unexplored scientific terrestra.

The registered participants are divided based on their knowledge levels on the subject involved. It is a day long event (from 9:30 am) starting with presentations that will introduce the audience to the general working and construction of automobiles.

This will be followed by an interactive session with a team of students belong to the Mechanical Engineering Department, who were part of the 'Daggers' team that designed and fabricated an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) to represent the college in an endurance race, BAJA 2011, organised by SAE-India. During this the participant get to see the car which 'Daggers' made and understand it's construction in detail.

After that, the students will be led to an exhibition of almost all the part-assemblies employed in a car, the intricate aspects of which are explained to them by volunteers.

And then there is another interactive session with Service Engineers from various automobile companies. They will debrief the participants regarding the maintenance and trouble shooting of a car.

In addition to these, the participants will also get an opportunity to attend demonstrative session on a Fuel-Cell car and a Hydraulic Car, which also were made by students of the Mechanical Engineering Department.

Furthermore, the participants will get a chance to test their knowledge on automobiles, in general, in a Quiz Competition.

An Auto-Show, with several high end cars available in the market on display along with their technical specifications and their corresponding implications, will follow.

The day will conclude with a valedictory ceremony during which winners of the all the previously help competitions under MESA will be awarded.

Students of the college, who take part in this event, will go back with a comprehensive understand of automobiles and will be left with a thirst for more....!!

Its Placement Fever @ MVSR.

Placement mania has taken center stage at MVSREC thanks to the Placement Drive conducted by 'The Placement Cell of MVSREC' for the final year students of B.E. and M.C.A. Engineering students who have just finished their 4-1 semester exams are busy preparing for the Aptitude Tests and Personal Interviews. 'The Placement Cell 2010-2011 Pass outs' group created on Facebook could successfully attract more than 250 students within 5 days of it being launched and students take time to share information and involve in discussions encouraging each other. Thanks to Srikiran Challapilla sir and Vedanatham sir for having created this group and also responding to student queries on time. A number of questions which have come up on the page are on how to prepare a CV(Curriculum Vitae), the format and what all to write in it

Here are a few basic things that need to be kept in mind while preparing a CV:

A CV should be crisp, concise and unique. Do not go into writing stories and I think 2 pages would be the ideal size.
Try to bullet in all the points you mention so that the HR personnel finds it easy to read.
Always remember, you are trying to sell yourself at the interview and the CV is the first step to make a good impression and as they say the first impression is the best impression.
Think like the person who is recruiting you. If you would be in his place what would you ask a student appearing for an interview. Try to make a CV that answers those questions and fulfills the requirements.
Look at emphasizing on your career objective and why you would like to join an IT company. Do mention your extra-curricular activities at school and college level. Do not get disappointed if you don’t have good number of achievements and activities. A company hopes to recruit more than 100 students and a large portion of them may not have much to mention in the activities. Concentrate on the projects you have done however small they may be and highlight your role in it.
A good CV does not assure you a job neither does an average one infer you would be rejected. Always remember the HR looks at how true your CV is and ho w do you justify all that is mentioned. Hence be as honest as possible while preparing it.
Last but most important, do not copy your friends CV or someone else’s on the net. In all probability God has made you as unique as possible and its time for you to prove it.

I hope the above tips could help you in your preparation and wish you all the very best.

As for the companies visiting MVSR we have Cognizant as the first company visiting the campus with Day 1 status. The Aptitude Test will be conducted on 19^th December and the Personal Interview for the selected candidates will be on 20^thDecember. Following which Infosys will conduct a drive on 24^th December also with Day 1 status. Talks are on with other companies like Wipro, Capgemini, Deloitte, Mahindra Satyam and we hope more companies visit MVSR and everyone gets placed. MVSR's Flag waves high at Cognizant's - Transition '10

Cognizant recently conducted TRANSITION’10 where students from around the city participated. MVSR had its spirit high by actively participating in all the tracks. The high fives of MVSR - Prathyusha, Abishai, Navyatha, Gowthami and Tejaswini participated in the event called PANORAMA where they were given a task of designing a stall based on the Theme ‘HUMAN COMPUTER INTERFACING'.

With the hard work of innumerable hours and a dedicated mentoring by Mr.Shesham Anand sir from the CSE Dept., the team won First Prize amongst 7 other teams while the event was being acknowledged by more than 400 attendees including students, media and corporate bigwigs.

The team also crafted out a presentation that was delivered by Prathyusha which gave an extraordinary appeal to the event. One of the team member says "At Transition '10 we got an opportunity to interact with HR’s of CTS which was a great learning experience other than winning the prize!". The team unanimously agrees that without the support of our HOD Mr. Prasanna Kumar sir, Kiran sir and our Principal Dr.P.A. Sastry and their co-operation the success would not have been possible.

These are one of those moments where we take great pride in showcasing what MVSR can and could really achieve given the right direction, mentoring from their faculty and the zeal to achieve success is created. We therefore, encourage everyone from around the college to take cues from events like these and not only taking up such opportunities but also create them for students with diverse talents giving them a chance to exhibit themselves to the entire world!

The Mighty Mech from our college participated in SAE INDIA's automobile design competition in which undergraduate engineering students were given a task of designing, simulating and fabricating human powered vehicles.

The objective of this event is to encourage people to use green vehicles and at the same time provide a platform for engineering students to tackle problems of the real world. The challenge however was to design a human driven vehicle with three tires but without the conventional linear frame. The event was held at Chandigarh on 23rd and 24th of Oct at UIET PUNJAB UNIVERSITY.

Our guys undertook this project in 2nd year, submitted the design report and gave a presentation on it too.
They got selected for the Main event which was held on the 23rd and 24th Oct.
There were only two colleges from Hyderabad including ours who had participated in the event and we were among the 19 teams who had been selected from around the country.

They also received an overwhelming appreciation from our principal Dr.P.A.Sastry for their achievement. The entire team is very optimistic about taking our college to a greater heights in the field of automotive engineering and are more than willing to mentor the newbies of our college who has the zeal to get their hands greasy!

Here's wishing the entire team a very hearty congratulations. Hope they bring us more laurels. But, this time at an international level :-)

Freedom festival @ Independence Day

August 15th, India's Independence Day was celebrated in style at MVSR. The entire event was co-ordinated by the 2nd year students. The day began with the flag hoisting ceremony following which the staff and students were taken through the journey of India's freedom struggle through the competitions and events organised by the students.

"FREEDOM RUN" was an event wherein participants were made to recognize several national leaders who fought for India's independance and also recall their golden words which still have an impact on todays youth and encourage us to strive for our country.

Also events like "JUST A MINUTE" were thought provoking and gave an oppurtunity for the students to voice out their opinions about current happenings of the country.

Other events requiring the participants to recognize famous incidents and landmarks of India reminded us the rich history and beauty of our motherland. Fun events like "HIT A SHOT" served as crowd pullers. This day was celebrated with the true spirit of patriotism and the idea to work for the progress of our motherland was reignited. For all of us present, it was truly a day to remember.

Fund-raising campaign for Ajay-

Ajay is a 1^st year student of our college from ECE-2. He is supposed to have slipped in his hostel bathroom and hurt his head. The injury is on the right side of the brain, and the right side of the body is paralyzed now. He is undergoing treatment in Kamineni Wockhardt Hospital, Abids.

His father is a Tailor who earns around 25,000 Rupees per annum. The operation and hospital charges were estimated to cost around 5 Lakh Rupees. As he cannot afford it, Ajay’s father appealed to the boys’ friends to find financial help.

The students of 1^st year were so moved with the boy’s condition, that, they decided to pool in 100 rupees per head, or more. Looking at the efforts the boy's classmates: Balu, Nandini and the whole lot of ECE-2 were putting in, on of our 'Eco and Social Awareness Club' Incharges, had the idea of initiating a campus-wide campaign.And so it was.

As part of that campaign, around 10 students from the 2^nd year went to Deccan College of Engineering and Technology to collect the money that the 1^st year students wanted to contribute. Though the CRs of each class were ready to do it, we wanted them to concentrate on studies first, so we decided to help collect the money.

The Principal of DCET was considerate enough to provide us with some furniture and space to setup a stall, in front of the block, for collecting the money.

The response from the students was awesome.

Altogether, students from 1^st and 2^ndyears contributed around Rs.80, 000/-

Thanks to Lanco Corp. for donating Rs.50, 000/- towards the cause.

Thanks to Abhaya Foundation as they agreed to donate Rs.75,000/- towards the same.

Including various other sources, the money we collected summed upto 2.6 lakhs.

Along with the 50,000/- that was previously given to the boy’s father from the money we collected, 80,000/- more was given to him on 16^th July.

The boy underwent surgery, and is now having physiotherapy sessions. He still is in coma. Food and Oxygen are being supplied through pipes.

Above all this, the last thing we wanted to hear- the boy is a meritorious student!!

86% in 10^th SSC, 94% in IPE, 3000+ rank in EAMCET, and faired well in his internal examinations. He now faces a speed-breaker on the journey of a bright career.

Principal, Faculty and Students of MVSR, Expressed their views about going Eco-friendly by innovative thoughts and quotes on the billboard made of PAPER.

Earth Hour is where people for the first time in history, of all ages, nationalities, race and background have the opportunity to use their light switch as their vote – Switching off your lights is a vote for Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming. WWF are urging the world to VOTE EARTH and reach the target of 1 billion votes, which will be presented to world leaders at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009.

Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. In 2008 the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum, the Sydney Opera House and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square all stood in darkness.

We all have a vote, and every single vote counts. Together we can take control of the future of our planet, for future generations.

MVSR Goes Eco-Savy!!!

The Eco-Club of MVSR Engineering College aims at spreading environmental awareness in the campus and to make impacts on surrounding areas. Our motto is “Plant one, Each one”. Basically, this club was started by a group of our students a month ago. We started off by taking up a strip of land that is adjacent to the main gate and was further decided to plant saplings and landscape the area as per a certain theme. Methodically, this college beautification activity was divided into three standardized phases.

We completed the first phase in mid December, which includes cleaning up the area in order to separate organic waste, plastic waste and asbestos. On 5^th January, on the remarkable occasion of “We the People fest", we carried out the other two phases of the activity, mainly ploughing and planting saplings respectively.

Though ploughing seems to be a tedious job, we MVSRians took it as a challenge and were successful in accomplishing the work! We ordered more than 150 saplings of two varieties (green and maroon crotons) in advance from a nearby plant nursery with the aid of funds provided by the college.

We thank our beloved Principal, Mr. P.A Sastry planted the very first sapling and graced the inauguration with his esteemed presence.

The future prospects of the club comprise:

· To keep the campus clean, green and beautiful.

· To generate awareness for optimum utilization and saving fuels.

· To establish collaboration with the “Renewable Energy Club” and affiliation with “Blue Cross”.

We as the future of the nation all keep cribbing about politics, country ,our responsibilities and many other things …but who is actually responsible for all this…It is “we the people” .It is with this idea that the M.V.S.R Campus Connect organization of M.V.S.R Engineering College came up with “WE the people Fest” . We have cultural fest, technical fests but this fest is of a different kind …Its to awaken the youth ..Make them closer to reality…Make them understand their responsibility as student towards the nation…Its to bring about the change .the fest had a host of events all towards same concept… The fest had Events like Jaago Re voting campaign..We had more than 450 voting registrations that day ..along with another 500 in que…”that’s a great beginning for the national team of Jaago re in hyderabad“ says Sarath from Jana Graha NGO who takes care of Jaago Re…The next event was “Big Fight” A debate among the most esteemed people in the city …The respected panelists included Hon.Jay Prakash NARAYAN -founder Lok Satta party , Prof. Vishweshwar Rao. Professor of Journalism O.U, Prof Amarnath Secretary of Indian journalist Union, Siddharth Radio jockey S.fm ,Sarath –national team Jaago re, Mr Venkatesh –Art of living Teacher , K.Venkat Ratnam –Management member ,Matusri Education Society.The main topic of the debate was “the role of youth in politics” .Jay Prakash Narayan stole the show with his comments to the students that …”the change cannot happen fortnight..It takes time but things are better in politics …If more educated educate people enter into politics Indian political Scenario can be much better …It is on us “We the people” to make our country improve to infinity or make it worsen to infinity….Mr Amarnath also said that changes need to begin at the grass root level …first vote…than participate in politics …when one person from the audience asked “Is it necessary to have a strong economical background to enter into politics?” The esteemed panelists replied ..no ….You have to mentally strong and dedicated towards the nation…This was the first time such an Event was organized in college ..Thanks to Idea pf Mr Suharsh from, ECE .The other Events include Desi Rock show ,A ballet called “An Awakening Call” which depicted bomb blasts and communal riots between hindus ,muslims and christans… One of the lines of the ballet that still ring sin everyone’s ears is “Jaago re ,Jaago re jaago re hindustaniyon apne param kartavya ko pehchano hindustaniyon..”We also had students performing I in national songs..”the event was a great hit…thanks to the hardwork of 200 organizers working day and night. ”it makes me feel a true Indian after organizing the Fest ” says Rohit Ahuja “We feel we have contributed back to the society ..to the student community”says Advait Singh Thakur founder of M.V.S.R campus connect

Hi there!

MVSR Campus Connect is proud to bring you their first ever event on 5th of JAN called "We, the People fest" - A Social Awareness youth festival.

We as responsible young citizens of the country realize that it is of no use blaming the system, when we cannot bring about a change. We also believe that the best way to bring a change is to be the change itself. In this faith, we have taken this first ever initiative to organize a youth festival with the theme of spreading political consciousness in general, and to aware people about voting rights and its necessity in particular.

The main highlight of the day will be the Jaago re! One Billion votes campaign. The objective of this event would be to make certain of total voter registration of every single student, teaching and non-teaching staff member associated with our college.

The Entire Day is filled with events such as Rock Concert, Skit, Cultural Events, MVSR's version of BIG FIGHT along with the most prominent personalities of hyderabad and finally a special 1 hour event by Gaddi No.935 of S FM. All this is brought to you by the team of MVSR Campus Connect who is working tirelessly for the D-Day.

Speaking of Voter Registration Drive, registration desks will be operating throughout the day to process your online registrations. After the registration is done, an email will arrive to you with your Form 6 which is the Electoral Enrollment Form. All you have to do after that is take a print out, affix your photograph, sign it and drop it in the drop boxes that will be placed in college. the drop boxes will be placed in the campus till 10th JAN.

There is immense support from the college managent behind the idea of such a fest. never-the-less what you will be witnessing on 5th was never ever tried in any of the educational institutions in the state.

As a testimony to this, we have an amazing encouragement from the press media. N TV, S FM, Deccan Chronicle and The Hindu have already confirmed their participation with us.

Ever wondered how your mobile phone to which you are so ‘truly, madly and deeply’ addicted to actually works?! Well if you haven’t, its time you give it a thought! To answer all your questions and doubts, the department of Electronics and Communications Engineering is organizing a workshop on ‘cellular communications’ on 3rd of January 2009.The workshop aims at exposing the latest technologies and trends that have been cropping up in the ever growing field of cellular communications.

NEW LIBRARY INAUGURATED!

Hey everyone!

18th of December 2008 marked an important day in annals of MVSR’s history! Our new library block was inaugurated by Prof. Y.V Rao, Director NIT Warangal, with tremendous appreciation and acclaim. The ceremony began at 11am and was attended by faculty, management, staff and the students of MVSR along with several dignitaries and media.
The new library block accommodates various sections for students and faculty usage. It contains an issue section, a periodical section, a reference section, a digital library, the main library and a conference hall. The conference hall is built for employment by faculty and students and can accommodate 50-75 persons at a time. The digital library, also called as e-resource centre, is associated with as many as 32 societies based on faculty group. It is equipped with 25 new systems and students and faculty can now browse through several e-books anytime! The new library contains 42000 volumes of books with more and more books still continuing to add to the collection. As many as 1500 new books have been added to the shelves since last April. The library also supports 83 scientific and technological periodic journals, some as valuable as IEEE, for students and faculty benefit. The new library is spread over an area of 20,000sqft (the old library was of 5000sqft) and is very spacious, comfortable and elegant.
“It is one of the best engineering libraries I’ve ever seen”, one of the dignitaries was heard saying. So guys! What are you waiting for??! Go make BEST possible use of all the facilities and amenities of the library. We sincerely hope all of you will make the initiatives and efforts made by our management fruitful and bring out the best in you!

It was really a very interesting and very intellectual National Conference on Urban Infrastructure Development Issues and challenges tat is being organized by department of Civil Engineering today and tomorrow(18th and 19th dec).
To keep all the ones who could not make to college today informed.. here are the few glimpses about the today's conference.
To start of with, The conference started at around 11.00.am.After a welcome Address by Prof.S.G.S.Murthy convener,NCUID-08.

Dr.P.Padmavathi, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor School of Planning ,JNTU,Hyd opened the conference with very practical concesequences of the Urban Infrastructural Devolopment.
There were around 10 key notes that were delivered by various eminent personalities from various prestigious institutions like IIIT Gachibouli,NIT Warangal, IISc Banglore,IIT Delhi. that were very informative.
There were around 37 paper presentations out of which 5 keynote lectures and 7 paper presentations were given t0day on various topics that enlighten our vision and perspective towards various urban development issues.
Few of the topics were
*urban flooding
*Earthquake Safety Issues
*Hyderabad Metro Railways
*Practices of Urban Infrastructure development with focus on Environment and preservation's
*Prediction of floods
*Composting treatment technology
and many other interesting topics.
The conference was held till 6 pm and ended with a very succesfull note.

Rest of the paper presentations will be given tomorrow. so, students who could not attend today need not worry you can still acquire informantion attending the presentations tomorrow...

Eco Club event.

Hello everybody.

The Eco- Club in sync with the rest of the clubs in the MCC has taken the initiative to clean up a small selected area, within the campus, and plant saplings so as make it more attractive and comfortable a place for students to spend time with friends. The area selected is right next to the entrance to the college premises, on the right side.

The week-long program was set in motion today, by a very energetic team of approximately 50. The team got together early morning and started off with hand-picking of weeds, sweeping away of dried leaves and separation of plastic and organic wastes for recycling After roughly 5 hours of tedious work, they have come to the end of the first phase of the project.

“It was not as tiring as we had assumed that it would be, rather it was double the amount of fun that we had expected!” says a team-member, when caught around sweating badly yet in full energy.

A video was shot, featuring the enthusiastic and never-tired team that would be put up on the MCC website, shortly. Trust this word, it is worth a click. :-)

The second phase would begin early tomorrow morning around 10 am. Any student or staff member interested may join the effort to bring about a change in the way our college looks. No. Not that the campus looks bad. Only that, there is still a lot of scope for improvement, and we would be glad, if everyone possible can help us find a route.

Also, a quick meet was held, and the ‘Jaago re!’ project was discussed. The Jaago re! team in Hyderabad, has accepted to hold and sponsor an event in college, where they would emphasize on the need to register for voting and the importance of voting. They would also recruit volunteers for their upcoming events, in and around the city. Brochures are available with most of the Eco-club and Editorial Members. Jaago re! ... Know your Vote!

Here’s some fresh news from the MCC team!

A few members from our team have come up with the idea of taking the initiative to organize a Voter-registration drive in the MVSR campus. In this regard, we have met with the Hyderabad team of Jaago re! Mr. Kuldip, Head, Jaago re! Hyderabad, has very willingly accepted to help us with the procedures involved.

Jaago re! is an India-wide campaign to awaken and enable citizens of India, especially the youth, to register for voting. It is a collaborative effort of TATA TEA and Janaagraha to bring about a positive change in the attitude of public towards voting, by letting them know of their rights and responsibilities. They thus, aim at registering a huge number of voters, and thereby improving governance in the nation.

The Voters-registration drive (VRD) in MVSR would be organized in coalition with Jaago re! and the program aims at facilitating the registration of every student, and staff member of the college onto the electoral rolls. It is tentatively scheduled to be held during the first week of January.

During the course of VRD, the following are the points that would be emphasized on.

The prime objective is to get each individual associated with MVSR, registered for voting, ie., getting their names onto the electoral list.
The secondary objective is to enlighten young citizens about voting rights and responsibilities in particular, and to create political awareness in general.
Also, Jaago re! would recruit 50 members from MVSR, to act as volunteers for several events that are planned for the upcoming year.
As a responsible step towards this cause of social-political awareness, we would also plan a VCD, for the surrounding villages in Nadergul, in the near future.

With the success of this event in college, we would proudly stand as the first college, in the city of Hyderabad, to have organized an event of this sort. We would also be the first ever college to have 100% voter registrations.

Details regarding the exact dates of VRD would be confirmed by the MCC team, shortly. The team also has Jaago re! brochures containing every minute detail about voting, and voting rights. Summary of the L&C Meeting; 08-12-2008

Hey Everyone!

This is for all those, who missed out on the very important meeting of the Literary and Creative Club (L&C), MVSREC that was held in the Mechanical Conference Hall this morning. Below is a brief of all the essential points that were discussed and debated over, of tentative decisions made and of groups formed during the course of the meeting.

We hope that this makes for most of the details, but we are equally sure reading through this would not make up for your absence from the discussion itself. Therefore, this is also an attempt to get you all to realize, the significance of making yourself present at every other meet to follow.

Also, for those of you who were involved in the discussion, this would be a quick synopsis. We hope; it is as useful as we wish to make it.

Firstly, we discussed the need to split up into groups, and behave, act and organize similar to a corporate setup, rather than a simple student body. That would induce a sense of professionalism and thereby improve standards and quality of work.

Tentatively, the groups would be:

a) Literary and Creative Club (that includes the Editorial Board).

b) Music and Fine Arts Club

c) Eco Club

d) Core team; that would handle major dealings with the MCC website, and interaction with the management, on behalf of the students.

Members who attended the meeting, made their choices regarding the clubs they wanted to join. We discussed that, each club be named creatively, though the names weren't finalized.

It was also mentioned that, every club holds meetings often to discuss club- updates. We would as well hold one general body meeting, every month, to discuss all updates from all departments. This would ensure transparency and competitive spirit between different departments, working in parallel, and hence result in productive work.
Members are required to interact, within their teams to their optimum bests, and come out with innovations. Also, any idea that requires any kind of funding to be brought to the notice of the club, in the immediate GBM, so that the necessities are attended to.
The Editorial Board would also be responsible for spreading any kind of information through the MCC website and the MCC Blog. Therefore, anything that you consider important enough to be informed to your fellows, bring it to the notice of the Editorial Board, or the Core team, ASAP. ( As soon as possible)
The immediate action plans were decided as follows:

a) Eco Club has to ideate and plan immediately, the Environmental Awareness Event, to be held in college. The basic plan suggested includes cleaning up of the college campus, planting of saplings, and painting a few walls of the college buildings. Details have still to be worked out on, and would be posted, right away when finalized.

b) Editorial Board has two major events to plan.

First one is, the ‘Walk-the-Talk’ with Prof. Mr. Prasanna Kumar, HOD Dept. of Computer science engineering, and Placement In charge, MVSREC. This is scheduled to be completed this weekend. So, rush in all the questions you have to ask our placement in charge.

Second one is an external-session from a guest from ‘Jaagore’, regarding basic politics, election awareness and election information.

c) All teams are were asked to work on and prepare the club- Manifesto, which should include their Goals, Objectives and Plans for the upcoming semester. We have about three weeks before the semester starts, and being ready with an action plan as soon as college reopens would prove a worthy kick-start for the club.

In addition to the four basic clubs, several other ideas for necessary additional departments were also discussed. They are as follows.

a) A Finance department, to take care of all major expenditures, funding of events etc. This, we thought could wait for the while, till we can have the system running smoothly. Once, the major working-departments begin to function in order, we can include this department.

b) A department for Social Awareness activities; for the time being, these events would be included in the Eco-Club, and we are definitely looking forward to expanding the range of activities and ideas, in the very near future.

c) A Human Resource management Department, would start up very soon once we begin with the basic work.

d) A Techno- Creative Club, for all the tech-heads, enthusiastic about innovations in the fields of science and engineering, would also bud within the first few months after the startup.

Above mentioned are only important aspects that were discussed. For those who missed the ‘fun’ part of the meeting, we admit we are helpless to give you the feel of it, through this post. For the information part of it, this is almost all.

We shall add in updates, as and when events occur.

Sem 2 Begins with a BLAST!

Hey fellas, We have repeatedly conveyed it and yet another time, We are very proud and overwhelmed by the response given by every one of u so far.. Firstly, the silver lining... we successfully inducted entire FIRST YEARS today thereby reaching the official 2300+ mark including Faculty members... Now that calls for a CELEBRATIONS! We've had some very interesting sessions with the first years who i say are justt MIND BLOWING!! Second of all, We now have a permanent Liaison Office for MVSR Campus Connect & the L&C Forum at the Old Library Block... [:)] Third Important Announcement is that on 4th of Dec, We will Have our SEMESTER ORIENTATION MEET to discuss what all will we be doing throughout the semester we will also accept any new ideas you guys may have. Finally, we will start induction of co-ordinators from 3rd and 2nd years to lead the Campus Connect initiative. I will SMS you the venue of the meet before 3rd. See ya!

Founder's Day

We celebrated The Founder's Day on the 1st of October 2008 , the birthday of late Arshya Shri Maturi Venkata Subba Rao the founder secretary of the college, to mark the occasion. The Literary and Creative Forum had organized number of competitions with roughly more than 600 number of participants, the events comprised of 16 events. The competitions were judged by our able members of senior & junior teaching faculty members. The majority of the events were conducted between 9.30a.m- 3.00p.m

A formal valedictory ceremony was held after the events where all the founding & present management members of Matrushri Educational Society, principal & faculty teaching as well as non-teaching and all the students attended.

The programme surprised us by the amount of talent that was displayed by the organisers as well as the participants , the tremendous response and jubilant success not withstanding the unrelenting support by the Principal to all the members of the faculty who very cheerfully obliged to judge and guide our performance. It was a show well put up neat & clean that leaves us satisfied at the end of the day with lots of fun and entertainment, and participation from all wings, events like these speak of wholesome entertainment with educative value with good will and encouragement from teachers, on the whole I would say that things such as these would make a campus life more memorable sure to make us nostalgic when we think back.

Founder's Day:

"There were many doubts and apprehensions and lot of suppositions that came to my mind and also my fellow coordinators about the smooth conduct of events/competitions that were organized in lieu with the Founder's Day celebrations but the student organizers & volunteers had put to rest all such doubts- they have put up a wonderful show of camaraderie, excellent teamsmanship, restraint , tolerance & oodles of patience such well coordinated hard work all of you deserve a big pat on the back, it was as if the students' defied gravity itself. 'not one case of misbehavior, campus teasing or ragging was reported without compromising on the quality of the show. There is a lot that the entire student community could take upon as role models or rather trend setters. I must thank all the organizers profusely.

The response was overwhelmingly tremendous , but it also pains us to see that some of the students have been infusing bad blood which they thought would dampen and quell the spirit & enthusiasm of the day's celebrations which were thwarted fittingly with a rebounding fervor, lets hope that good sense always prevails and students don't resort to such demoralizing acts after all these events are organized for the students to make their campus life more memorable and more importantly in the memory of the Founder of this wonderful college rather than feel embarrass when they think back on their misdeeds."

All the students who register for the service get regular updates about placements, inter-college events, inter-department events and any emergency within the college and outside so as to change their schedule.
“Recently, an internal examination got delayed and the message relieved tension among candidates rushing to the college,” says Rohit Ahuja, a key man in shaping this service.

Advait Singh Thakur, a final year student from CSE branch got the idea of connecting the students and the support came from his friends Abhinay, Ganesh, Dharneesh, Rakesh, Amit, Paramveer, Vineel, Anil, Samanth and Rakesh. They pooled money among themselves and tied up with a SMS provider.
Now all that students need is to register to join the group and contribute just Rs. 5 every month to get the updates. Rohit says more than 1200 students have already registered. Even the faculty have joined the group .

Tommorow is Teachers' day!

Well, A time for few to show genuine gratitude and time for others to maska-fy the professors... whatever the reason be, just show them you CARE & RESPECT.

To think off, they are the people who are making us employable, they are directly or indirectly, knowingly or unknowingly shaping you of what you see yourself today.

During your days here at MVSR, you might not be serious about this but, i bet you 100 bucks that when you leave, on every greatest achievement that you may see in your career YOU will sometime make your Teachers responsible for it! cuz they just dont teach you your subjects, they teach you a way of life! thats a fact.

We are very glad and extremly lucky to have all the teachers that we have today, cuz i bet if you go out looking for freedom that we have in any other college, you wont find one... Man, They are all pampering us to hell!! Believe me!!

Its one day we say it to them:

For all the classes that they taught.

For excusing us of our mistakes.

For all those bunks and not screwing us. :-)

2. CSE2 and Prod had a nerve-wrecking match on saturday with cse2 winning the match by 5 wickets. The score board : PROD 133/8 in 20 overs and CSE2: 134/5 19 overs, good knock by SANJAYand NARSI.

3. EEE and MECH too had a sensational match with EEE winning the match. Maximum efforts were contributed by KUNAL, NAIK & SRINIVAS. EEE 136/7 and MECH 107/10.

Hey Friends,

It gives me immense pleasure to address you.

What a splendid feeling it is to work towards a goal, a goal to get people closer, to form a community whose strengths and weaknesses are far beyond imagination.

We have already marched ourselves in. Things have shaped up as we wanted them to. We have a Team of think tanks who share a similar vision and to give you all what you deserve, to guide you and share views on what needs to be done, our thoughts, our vision which is to expose you to the limitless possibilities of changing our college into an amazing and enjoyable place to study and to make four years of yours a journey worth remembering.

When we started this mission called "MVSR Campus Connect" the only thing that we had in our mind was that we are blessed with two most greatest things the time can give us at this moment. Technology & College. yeah... weird as it may sound but today we have amazing technology where we can get to you in split of a second and the next best thing that can happen to any of us is our alma mater, our MVSR. Believe me or not, you might be thinking that its too much of a hype saying our college is this...our college is that...but, to come to think of, every college is flawed, and mind you every college is not IIT (i pity those guys at IIT cuz they still cry over not gettiing into MIT or something...lol...), but hey, still deep down somewhere our college is a place we look upto with respect cuz we know, thats the one who gave you new friends, well, friends for life few may say. so....anyways as i was saying, these were the two biggest things not fully exploited in our campus until NOW!!

I know you might be thinking why are we taking so much interest in all this specially the bridging the gaps and filling the potholes things... ;-) dont you think What million dollar idea it would be to revive root of our college again, grow new ideas, water it with fresh thoughts, thoughts of a new age campus goer filled with ambitions to do great things in life. Well, think a little differently now, before you start earning big bucks (dollaraa$$) ask what you can give back to the college.well, a very wise person once said "For every thing Good, For every thing big, for every thing worth appreciating, there is always a FIRST time, there is always a thought(which we gave), a begining (which just hapnd with all your support), a wait, an outcome (which will be in front of you very shortly) and a success story after which there is no looking back.

Having said that i dont deny that the road ahead is not easy one i must admit. Things dont turn out as u wish them to. For an instance, When we were going around to classes prosposing them to participate in the whole mvsr campus connect thingie, we spoke our hearts and ideas out. taking reviews, answering queries and one guy comes and questiones us, how can we be sure that the money that you guys are taking from us is not misused. Well, in the first place i was startled, then i thought, what a brilliant use of the rights, remember, "RIGHT TO INFORMATION ACT"... ;-) . That was indeed a great way to help shape things up. To come to think of it, it made us realise that it was one thing we dint pay much attention to, we were initially cluless on how we are gonna justify our expenses? We then reviewed our guidelines and other drafts and a idea bulbed into our minds that we will be posting you all the ledger, accounts and recipts of all the payments that we make to service providers and all the activities we do with all due transperency. Infact we will also explain you in due course of time how the whole MVSR CAMPUS CONNECT FUNCTIONS

And guys, in the first place to come to think of all this we are just students, not POLITICIANS (no offense to their profession tough). you can rely in us and we will always be happy to help you with account details if you need them anytime.

Ans: The answer to that is YES! your details will be kept private, confidential and will not be shared with anyone, i repeat, ANYONE!

Ans: Offcourse you can send free sms from the above listed sites but if u realise you can send them to only one recipient or only one user at a time, whereas we are here talking of sending 3000 messages in a instant. for which we are taking professional services from IMI Mobiles pvt Ltd. their clients are Google, ford, Cocacola, Airtel, TATA to name a few. so you can be sure that it reaches u instantly without ads and can also be sure of your number being kept discrete and not disclosed to tele-marketting guys to bug u with calls.

3. When will the service start once i make the payment?
Ans: In less than 3 days.

4. Is the college responsible for any of the things you guys are doing?
Ans: NO. but we do have Principal sir's consent. We had meetings with him to discuss the loop-holes and draw guidelines to the use of servce.But as such the college, the management, or the college faculty is NOT involved in this project. Its a wholly student run org.

5. What can i do once my number gets changed?
Ans: Please call the HQ (or) complaints cell (or) your department team member (or) email us at mvsr.campusconnect@gmail.com . If there are still further queries please let us know... we will be posting our replies here at the blog.

MVSR Campus Connect???

It's a motion started by the fourth year batch (0506) of MVSREC who pledge to provide you with all the details, news, gossips and the hot n happenin' in and around the campus.

In awe of this we recently started a SMS service which currently is in its testing stage (i hope csed is in good taste of it by now).
